Lived is a private place to notice your own life. This policy explains, plainly, what the app stores, what it never does, and the control you have. It covers the Lived mobile app.
On your device, always. Everything you record lives on your phone first: your daily ratings across the five dimensions, the moment you write, the word you give a day, any photos or voice notes you add, your quick notes, goals, letters to your future self, your roots, your answers to reflection questions, your reminders, and your start date.
In your account, only if you sign in. Signing in is optional and exists for one reason: so a record of your life survives a lost or replaced phone. When you are signed in, the items above are backed up to a private account held on our backend provider (Supabase). Each account can be read only by that signed-in person.
Your email. If you create an account, we store the email address you sign in with. We use it only to authenticate you and to keep your backup attached to you. We do not email you marketing.
Some features (the weekly and longer reflections, and Ask) can use AI to read back what you have written and offer a gentle observation. These are off until you turn them on.
When you use them, the relevant entry text is sent to Anthropic (the makers of Claude) to generate that reflection, and then returned to you. That text is processed only to produce your response. It is not used to train any AI models, and it is not stored by us beyond your own entries. A safety check runs first: if writing suggests you may be in crisis, the app shows supportive resources instead of generating a reflection.
If you add a photo or a voice note, it is stored with that entry, on your device and, when signed in, in your private account. The camera and microphone are used only at the moment you choose to add a photo or record. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device and send nothing to us.
Your account data is stored in records that are locked to you, so another user of Lived can never reach yours. Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Honestly stated: your entries are not end-to-end encrypted, which means they are held in readable form on our backend provider's servers under access controls, rather than in a form only your device could ever unlock. If you never sign in, none of your writing leaves your phone at all.

Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country, including in the United States, by the providers above. Wherever it is processed, the protections in this policy apply.

Depending on where you live, including under the EU and UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Lived is built so you can do the important ones, export and full deletion, yourself, at once. For anything else, contact us at the address below.
Lived is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, note it in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Lived is a personal journaling and reflection app for your own use. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Lived is not medical care. It is a tool for noticing and reflecting on your life. It does not provide medical, psychological, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional. If you may be in crisis, the app will point you to support resources, but in an emergency contact your local emergency services or a crisis line directly.
Everything you write and add in Lived belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it. We store and back it up only to provide the app to you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Please use Lived only for its intended, lawful, personal purpose, and do not attempt to break, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the service, or to access another person's data.
Lived is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We work hard to keep it dependable and your data safe, but we cannot guarantee the app will always be available or error-free. Keep your own exported copy of anything you cannot bear to lose.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Lived and its maker are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, including any loss of data.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
